SZA-1 Sub-Zone Amplifier

SKU SZA-1

The SZA-1 is ideal for adding two unique amplifier channels for powering up to four speakers located in a sub-zone of a whole-house audio system. Simply connect to the FIXED stereo outputs included with every zone in an MCA-66, MC-66, Lync 6, or Lync 12. Then add a rotary or slide-type volume control between the SZA-1 and your speakers to control the volume.

Other applications:

  • Use the SZA-1 to power a single zone of an Entry Level whole-house audio system.
  • Use the SZA-1 as a stereo amplifier hidden within a room (not the home's central location) to provide power to a single source, such as a TV or music streamer, and control the volume using the remote control or app provided by the source. Note: some TVs with only a digital output may require an audio extractor.

Use the auto-on feature to automatically turn on the amplifier when an input source is detected and then return the amplifier to stand-by mode when the zone is not in use.

Details

Sometimes all you need is a little extra power. This simplified, yet clean and great sounding amplifier does not include a tuner, preamp or other bells and whistles. It was designed specifically to provide an affordable solution for simply amplifying speakers anywhere in your home.

Here are three typical uses:

1. Sub-Zone Amplifier

As its model name implies, the SZA-1 (Sub-Zone Amplifier) is ideal for powering speakers in a sub-zone. A sub-zone is usually a room near a primary zone that is forced to listen to the source selected by the primary zone, but which has its own volume control.

Speakers in the primary zone are usually powered by a multi-channel amplifier and volume is controlled with a phone, tablet, or wall-mounted controller. Speakers in a sub-zone require their own amplifier if you wish to control the volume separately- most often by installing an in-wall volume control somewhere in the sub-zone.

2. Part of an Entry Level whole-house audio system

3. Powering speakers for TV audio

Another common use for the SZA-1 is to power a pair of speakers connected directly to a TV. As our TVs have gotten thinner, the sound quality of the built-in speakers has noticeably diminished. Adding this amplifier and a nice pair of speakers solves this problem.
