Apple/Siri - Troubleshooting
Problem:Synchronization issues
Error Message: "Something went wrong or the shortcut can’t be found."
Problem:System Availability Issues
Error Message: "An error occurred while running your shortcut."
Steps to Resolve Issues:
- Verify Device and App Settings:
- Ensure that the MAC address in the Home Audio app matches the MAC address on the WGW-SLX gateway.
- Confirm you are using the correct HTD gateway (WGW-SLX, not GW-SL1 or WGW-SL1).
- Make sure the email address linked in the Home Audio app is the same email you use for your Apple ID for your Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, HomePod, or HomePod mini).
- Check Command Syntax:
- Use the correct syntax when issuing commands to Siri. For example, say "Hey Siri, turn on (Zone Name)" to control a specific zone.
- Refer to the command syntax guide for Siri to ensure proper usage.
- Device and Connection Verification:
- Confirm the system is powered on.
- Check your internet connection to ensure it is working properly.
- Verify that the WGW-SLX is connected to the Lync or MC controller.
- Ensure you can control the system with the Home Audio app.
- Unique Naming for Zones and Sources:
- Make sure that all zone and source names are unique. Duplicate names can cause synchronization issues.
- Confirm Syncing of Home Audio app:
- Sync your account in the HTD Home Audio app under the “Voice Assistants” tap in “Settings”.
- When prompted to enter your email, ensure it matches the email used for your Apple ID.
- Resync After Making Changes:
- After updating zone/source names, presets, or groups, go to the "Voice Assistant" tab in the Home Audio app and resync to the cloud to maintain your settings.
*Quick Tip: Make sure that you do not name any of your zones the same as another device being controlled by Siri/HomeKit. For example, if you have a light named “Kitchen” then you cannot name the kitchen zone on your whole house audio system “Kitchen” in the Apple Shortcuts app. You will need to change the names to something like “Kitchen Lights” and “Kitchen Speakers” so that Siri knows the difference between the two.
