Sometimes all you need is the same audio source played throughout the entire home along with independent volume control for each room. Depending on the number of rooms, this is best accomplished with either a 2-channel (stereo) or 12-channel (6 stereo) amplifier located at a central location and a volume control installed in each room.

4-conductor speaker cable is run from the amplifier to each volume control. 2-conductor speaker cable is run from a volume control to each of the speakers in that zone.
