Sending Audio over Cat Cable
Music streamers are connected directly to your whole-house audio controller at the primary equipment location. But what about your other devices spread around the house, such as TVs, PCs, CD Players, turntables, and home theater receivers?
Several options are available that utilize inexpensive Cat 5 (or higher) cable run from these devices back to the primary equipment location:
- If you have a Lync system . . . convenient Input Panels can be installed near the audio source, often behind TVs, bedside tables, etc.
- For sources with Bluetooth (smart phones, TVs, Echo Dots, etc.) . . . HTD offers a Bluetooth Extension Kit that can extend the audio signal a long distance over Cat cable.
- If your source is an Amazon Dot . . . we have two kits that allow you to mount and power the Dot in a ceiling and extend its audio along Cat cable back to your main equipment.
-
For all systems . . . HTD's Dual Stereo Baluns offer a way to send two stereo signals, either both in the same direction, or in opposite directions over long runs of Cat cable. This is often useful when sharing audio between a home theater receiver and a whole-house audio system.
