Tips for running Cat-5/6 cable for whole-house audio
Here are some tips for running Cat-5/6 cable for use with our Mid-Level and Advanced Whole-House Audio systems:
Do not run Cat-5/6 cable within three feet of fluorescent lights.
Avoid running Cat-5/6 cable parallel to high voltage lines. Always cross Cat-5/6 cable at a 90 degree angle.
Do not split or route Cat-5/6 cable through an ethernet hub or switcher.
Cat-5/6 may be run through a passive patch bay as long as point-to-point connectivity is maintained. But keep in mind that every time you pass through a connector, there will be some signal loss. If possible, try to maintain a point-to-point connection.
