On Jan 24, 1999, Home Theater Direct received its very first order from a customer in Ladson, South Carolina, making us the first consumer electronics manufacturer set up specifically to take advantage of direct sales via the Internet. We began with a simple philosophy that still holds true today: provide great quality products and dedicated support directly to the end users of those products, and the experience will be better for everyone.

While this direct approach is now claimed by others (including some competitors), in 1999 the concept was considered radical and risky- "Who is going to buy a speaker they’ve never touched, much less listened to, over the internet from a company they’ve never heard of?” Direct prices, great reviews, and our 30-day in-home no-risk guarantee was enough to convince some early adopters to take a chance on a fledgling company. And ever since it has been the word-of-mouth advertising from our loyal customers that has grown our business and brand into what it is today.

We continue to design and build products with ideas and feedback from our customer base, and look forward to many more years offering innovative products for home theater and whole-house audio DIRECT to consumers.
