Common use: merge a stereo output to create a mono (merged left and right) output
Note: this cable is often combined with a M-MM cable in order to send the merged left and right signal into two amplifier channels. The result is a zone that plays the same merged signal through every speaker instead of sending the left signal into one speaker and the right signal into another.
